Brivi provides voice transcription, note-taking, and ask-anything workflows across the web app, Mac desktop app, and Chrome extension. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use and store it, and the steps we take to protect your privacy.

1. Data We Collect and Why

  • Microphone audio: accessed only when you start recording; sent to speech-to-text and AI providers for processing; discarded after processing unless you choose to save an audio file or attachment.
  • Transcribed text & notes: saved so you can review, edit, and sync across devices (including selected text and optional screenshots).
  • Authentication info: email and credentials/OAuth to secure your account; session tokens stored securely to keep you signed in.
  • Browser tab info: active tab URL/title only when needed to paste text or attach context to notes; no browsing history collection.
  • Clipboard: used only to fulfill your copy/paste action (never uploaded).
  • Notifications: desktop notifications about recording/status; no personal data collected for notifications.
  • Local storage: settings and recent history kept locally for performance and offline convenience.
  • Usage statistics: metrics such as minutes used, feature usage, errors, and performance to enforce fair use, debug problems, and improve the service.
  • Support communications: info you voluntarily provide when contacting support.

2. How We Use and Store Your Data

  • Provide core features: transcribe speech, process AI requests, paste/save notes, and keep your account secure.
  • Cloud sync: when signed in, your notes/transcripts sync via our secure Neon Postgres backend with per‑user access control.
  • Storage & retention: account data persists while you use the service or until deletion; uploaded files remain until you delete them or your account; local caches remain on your device.
  • Security measures: HTTPS/WSS transport, token‑based access, RLS, and restricted access to production data.
  • Usage data: to show plan usage and to improve features (aggregated, not sold or shared for ads).
  • Cookies and similar technologies: authentication/session cookies are required for the web app; analytics and error-reporting tools may collect device, page, and event metadata to understand reliability and usage.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

  • No sale of personal data; no sharing with advertisers.
  • Trusted processors only when necessary, including Neon for database hosting, Cloudflare R2 for file storage, Dodo Payments for billing, Resend for email, PostHog for product analytics, and Sentry for error reporting.
  • Audio, screenshots, transcripts, prompts, and generated text may be sent to AI providers used by Brivi, including Groq, OpenAI, Google Gemini, and Sarvam AI, depending on the feature and model selected.
  • Limited internal access for support/ops; legal disclosures only when required by law.

4. User Control and Privacy Choices

  • Microphone access is permission‑based and active only during your recordings.
  • Optional features like screenshots and context menu can be turned off.
  • Pause or denylist sites so Brivi Voice stays inactive where you choose.
  • View, edit, export, or delete your notes and history from the dashboard where available.
  • Request account export or deletion via support@brivi.app; we erase or export your personal data subject to legal, billing, fraud-prevention, and security requirements.

5. Compliance

We follow Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and applicable privacy laws (e.g., GDPR/CCPA principles). We practice data minimization, provide a clear policy, and notify you of material changes.
